CSULB Admission Workshops at CSULB
Here is a great transfer activity for students targeting transfer to CSULB. CSULB is hosting Transfer Admission Workshops at the CSULB campus. These workshops will work with students in advance who are targeting possible Spring 2013 or Fall 2013 CSULB transfer. The workshops can also be of value to students who just recently applied for Fall 2012 CSULB transfer in terms of discussing their next steps in the application process. Going to these workshops at CSULB also allows our students to visit the CSULB campus and get a feel for the campus environment. There is no cost to attendees and free parking will be provided. A registration link to the workshops is below.
Register online on the Transfer Link located at:

It is strongly recommended to bring student-copy-unofficial copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as well as catalogs and previous evaluations, if available.

Video to help you complete CSU Application
The link: http://www.csumentor.edu/applications/csu/CSU_UG_2011/tutorials/
player.asp?m=intro provides a video tutorial on how to create a CSU transfer application account and how to complete each page of the CSU online transfer application found at www.csumentor.edu. At their own pace, students can use the menu bar on the right of the screen to view tutorials related to specific pages of the CSU application. (Note: Students will not need to complete the application sections on high school preparation and therefore can skip the tutorial pages related to high school perparation.) This is a great tool for students to get comfortable with the CSU online application and will answer many application questions you may have.

Which CSU schools are accepting admissions applications for certain terms/years?
One of the main affects of the dire California state budget is that many CSU campuses are no longer accepting applications for certain semesters/quarters. You can use the csumentor website to discover which CSU campuses are accepting applications for specific terms and years (e.g., Spring 2010) as well as the application filing periods. Be diligent about keeping track of this type of transfer information and checking the application status often, because this information changes periodically especially as we get closer to the term/year you are interested in transferring. Follow the steps below to see which campuses are accepting admissions applications for certain terms/years and to get important campus specific transfer announcements.
- Go to www.csumentor.edu
- Click on the “apply online” tab
- Click on “application filing status report”
- Select “undergraduate” as your transfer level
- Select the term/year you want to transfer (e.g., Spring 2010)
- The “status” column will tell you which CSU campuses are accepting for that term/year, and you can also get other important transfer information under the column “campus notice for transfers”. Please remember to check this information periodically as it may update especially as you draw closer to the term/year you are interested in transferring in to
- Keep your university transfer options/choices open. Good Luck.
Long Beach Promise Transfer Criteria for CSULB Transfer
CSULB requires that students have a minimum of 30 CSU transferable units completed at LBCC and attend LBCC last prior to transferring to CSULB to be considered "local area" students eligible for the transfer component of the "Long Beach Promise." These "local" students will be held to minimum admissions requirements for transfer into NON-IMPACTED majors at CSULB. Please note that students who have never attended LBCC and begin to take LBCC courses Summer 2011 or Fall 2011 to satisfy the 30 CSU unit residency requirement for Fall 2012 transfer may not be considered "local" LBCC students by CSULB.
The Long Beach Promise does not apply for transfer into any of the impacted majors at CSULB for any students. Additional admissions requirements for impacted majors at CSULB can be found at: http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions
/impacted_major_upper.html
New Major Course Requirements for CSULB Impacted Majors
This is a very important announcement on major impaction at CSULB and new supplemental requirements for these impacted majors. The requirements pertain to specific major prep courses offered at LBCC that are now required in order for students to be admitted into impacted majors at CSULB. I have included the link below that indicates the CSULB impacted majors and outlines these new supplemental transfer requirements for each of these majors. This link was just posted on the CSULB homepage. Take a look at the link to see if your major at CSULB is impacted and what major courses are now required. You can use the www.assist.org link to see what major courses at CSULB are equivalent at LBCC.

NEW CSUDH TRANSFER PROGRAM!!!
LBCC/CSUDH now has the Pathways to Enrollment Success Partnership Program. The Pathways program is the transfer guarantee program with CSUDH. This is a great "insurance policy" for our students to get into CSUDH non-impacted majors even if enrollments increase at CSUDH and spaces become limited. Students must submit an application to enroll in the program and must meet the program requirements below.
The application allows CSUDH to target future transfers and gets you vital announcements regarding the program, transfer admissions and CSUDH in general. The Pathways program will insure you are updated about CSUDH transfer and have a smooth transition to CSUDH after being accepted. The attached application serves as the official program enrollment form. Fill out the attached application today and mail to the address below, or applications may be dropped off at LAC and PCC Transfer Centers (LAC M219 or PCC GG 100). The requirements for the program are below. Get ready for your future CSUDH home today!

UC Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG)
Some of you may want to seriously consider submitting at UC Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) application if you are planning UC transfer for Fall 2012. All UC's accept TAGs except for UCLA and UC Berkeley. Students may submit a TAG to ONE UC school. The submission cycle/period will be from September 1st to September 30th for Fall 2012 transfer, but students may already begin working on their application (which includes entering your entire college/university history). The link to the application is: http://uctag.universityofcalifornia.edu/. Each of the schools' TAG requirements is slightly different (e.g. which majors accept TAGs, major specific requirements, minimum TAG GPA, timing of TAG requirements...).
Here is useful link to campus specific TAG requirements and the TAG "Matrix" of requirements so you can begin exploring what your specific school's TAG requirements are:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/guarantee/index.html. The typical indicators of good TAG students are
- UC GPA in the 3.0 or higher neighborhood
- has at least 30 UC units completed by this summer
- has a good deal of major prep work done or planned and
- is targeting Fall 2012 UC transfer. Start you TAG application today!
UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine Health Professions Support Program
The UCLA Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture is now accepting applications for MEDPEP (Medicos, Enfermeros, y Dentistas Para el Pueblo), a
Medical Preparation and Education Pipeline program designed to support low-income Latino and underrepresented minority (URM) students through their
community college experience and transition to 4-year universities and health professional programs. Founded almost a decade ago, MEDPEP has
provided support to high school students, undergraduate students, and underrepresented communities throughout the State of California. MEDPEP's
effort to formalize partnerships with community colleges has resulted in institutionalized pre-health professional support programs at several
California community colleges.
Information and online application can be found at the following website link: http://medpep.med.ucla.edu/
USC GE and Transferable Courses
You can see what LBCC courses are accepted for USC's "Core" or GE Courses by going to the following link. You can also use this link to determine which courses at USC have equivalent courses at LBCC and which courses are transferable to USC from LBCC. The link is: https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx. Once at the link, select "Los Angeles Area" for the region and "Long Beach City College" as the school. Your USC GE courses, course equivalencies and transferable courses from LBCC will all be shown after you select those options.
USC Transfer Planning Guide/Resource
You will find the following link very useful if you are a hopeful USC. It is similar to www.assist.org (what you use when transferring to a CSU or UC school). After selecting a CA community college (such as Long Beach City College) or certain select 4-year schools, you will be shown what work can be done at that school to complete your GE courses as well as courses for your major before attending USC. Please bookmark this link for future reference. https://camel2.usc.edu/TPG/SelctPgAgrmnt.aspx
